So after eating at Meliora today with Enoch, Vivian, and Xu, I had an extra 30minutes before my class started at 2, so I thought I should update my schedule with orgo workshop and lab updated, so I made another schedule. Yellow = badminton [didn't put Saturday practices in], Red = food times, and Green = classes.
My final schedule for Fall 2009:
Thursday, September 10, 2009

Opinions so far on classes
Linguistics: Ughhhh so much reading... On the bright side, it might increase my reading speed, that is, IF I do the readings. And apparently, we have this language project where you research a language, like its background information, it's phonetics/grammar structures, etc. So the language I got was "Koyukon" and it has a total of like half a page worth of information on the "background information" and then maybe another half on its grammar/phonetics, etc. So basically... I am once again screwed for a social science course. I will need to ask my teacher what I can do about it before or after class today at 2pm [~38 more minutes].
Chinese: I didn't think it was going to be this bad D: It's like all cultural stuff. The first chapter is like a 4-5page essay on basins, plateaus, mountains, rivers, etc, in China. I was like wtf. Like half my reading page thing was covered in pin yin. Okay that's a bit of an exaggeration, but still... it's like all proper nouns and we need to memorize them and write essays. I feel like it's going to be a history class, except taught in Chinese which makes it 9823472 times worse D:
Genetics: The teacher seems like a cool person. I'm just a bit worried what it'll be like after "real class" starts. Because first few classes, she was like "we're going to go really slowly..." and everyone in the class was like oh crap -starts writing- The first break I get from writing in genetics is around 10:38 [Class starts at 10:00 and ends at 10:50]. So we've had two classes so far, and she's covered half of chapter two already. I'll need to figure out how to work my voice recorder soon... like tonight after badminton. Oh and I have my first genetics recitation today at 3:25... I think.
Organic Chemistry: Yay everyone's favorite class and the class all premed students are dying to take. Well the teacher seems like a fun teacher; it's just that he ends almost all of his sentences with "okay", which can get a bit annoying. So first day of class, he decided to tell us a dumb blond joke, saying ahead of time "I'm sure there are no blonds in this class, if there are, you can go dye your hair".
So basically, the joke goes like this:
Three women go down to Mexico one night to celebrate college graduation. They get drunk and wake up in jail, only to find that they are to be executed in the morning - though none of them can remember what they did the night before.
The first one, a redhead, is strapped in the electric chair and is asked if she has any last words. She says, “I just graduated from Trinity Bible College and believe in the almighty power of God to intervene on the behalf of the innocent.” They throw the switch and nothing happens. They all immediately fall to the floor on their knees, beg for forgiveness, and release her.
The second one, a brunette, is strapped in and gives her last words. “I just graduated from the Harvard School of Law and I believe in the power of justice to intervene on the part of the innocent.” They throw the switch and again, nothing happens. Again they all immediately fall to their knees, beg for forgiveness and release her.
The last one (you know it), a blonde, is strapped in and says, “Well, I’m from the University of Texas and just graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and I’ll tell ya right now, ya’ll ain’t gonna electrocute nobody if you don’t plug this thing in.”
And then he decided to use this joke to lecture us about something, but I forget what it was -.-;;;. So orgo seems like a fairly fun class, but we haven't learned much in lecture yet. He quickly went through isomers and what cis and trans were. In orgo workshop, my TA was like "trans and cis" and someone was like "wait cyst?" He's like "no cis", she's like "cyst....?" he was like "NO C-I-S" I was like lol cis does look more like a cyst than trans does. So now I'll remember which is which :D
